Class Observation

Visitors
I know, as a parent, that we like to see the progress our children are making in their classes. Visitors, however, are distracting for the students in a dance class setting. I welcome you to occasionally observe a portion of your child’s class on the first week of each month, but keep in mind to keep your visits short and sweet so instruction can be optimized. Thanks for your cooperation.

Show What We Know

Performances/Recitals
We will have a December performance and a Spring Recital. Recital fee of $25 should be paid with April’s tuition and this allows you to bring as many guests to the recital as you would like (no pricey recital tickets to purchase, yay!)
Parent Communication
Please make sure we always have your current address, phone number, and email. You can contact Alana via email at felicitydanceacademy@gmail.com or by calling 801-309-9866. I will send class notes home through email, but if you prefer your notes in paper form, please let me know.

What to wear

Costumes and Class Attire
Class attire for clogging classes should be clothing that is comfortable, and pants should not go past ankles. Dance clothing or capris are a good choice for clogging. Cloggers will need black clogging shoes.
Class attire for ballet/jazz classes should be appropriate dance clothing (tights/leggings, leotard, and black ballet or jazz shoes).
Shoes will be ordered from a dance distributer, and I will inform you when shoe orders are being turned in. If you order with a group order, the cost is less because shipping is less. The clogging shoes I order are from a reputable distributer and are great quality, which is important with clogging. The cost for the Stomper clogging shoes with buck taps are $60.00. If you find clogging shoes elsewhere, please make sure they are black. Students in ballet/ jazz classes will need black ballet shoes or black jazz shoes. I can also order these when we do shoe orders.
We will order costumes in the fall, and they will be around $50.00.

A little about Alana Swenson (director of stuido)

My Dance Background
To introduce myself, my name is Alana Swenson. Dance has ALWAYS been a part of my life. My mom ran Parker’s Dance Palace, which was one of the largest and most reputable dance programs in Davis County. She has taught hundreds of students, and I have been taught, by example, how to dance and how to teach dance. I was so lucky to be exposed to every form of dance when I was young. I have chosen to incorporate my favorite dance genres in Felicity Dance Academy. The word Felicity means “something that brings happiness” and dance has been a great source of happiness to me throughout my life, and I am ecstatic to share the love of dance with my students. Some of my greatest dance accomplishments have been: Championship Clogger, Cheerleading Adviser at Syracuse Jr. High, President of Nationally ranked CHS Falcettes, Various pageant awards with dance being my talent, Speech and Drama Sterling Scholar. I am also a licensed teacher with the state of Utah, and I have a degree in English and Family Studies from Weber State University.
